Mrs Ncube is a dedicated teacher at a rural P3 school in Matabeleland. She teaches a class of 35 pupils, more than half of them girls.

Every month, she notices the same pattern: some of her brightest girls start missing lessons or sit silently in the back of the class, worried about leaks. Their confidence suffers, and so do their grades.

She often bought pads for her students using her own salary, but with inflation and low pay, it was unsustainable. She believes with support from Kopano and the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, her school will have access to dignity kits, menstrual health education, and a supportive environment. This will allow girls and boys to feel safe to talk about menstruation, and attendance rates will improve.

For the first time, Mrs Ncube believes the #I Will Campaign will empower her students to succeed every day of the month and feel confident.

“I believe Kopano’s partnered approach is a brilliant solution to fighting period poverty. Let’s all say ‘I Will’ and protect a child’s dignity and future.”
